About

“The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians: who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” ― Brennan Manning

Like many Christians I’ve often struggled with the question “What am I called to do?”  I’ve heard countless stories about individuals receiving a very clear calling to be pastors, missionaries, Christian counselors, or other “traditional” ministry oriented positions. So far in my life I haven’t felt God pulling me into any of those directions.  I believe I’m wired to be an engineer and to lead other engineers.  I love the challenge of solving a tough technical problem or leading a team of engineers through the challenge of solving a problem that requires more than what one individual can accomplish.  Until now I was functioning as if my only “calling” was to occasionally drop a few bucks in the plate to help those that were called to a traditional Christian ministry.

I’m starting to think God is challenging me and others like me to more than the occasional buck in the plate.  Is God calling us to a fairly large mission field:  our families, our local office, our regional business unit, our global corporation, and the entire business community?  As leaders are we a living example of what Christ has done in our lives or are we Sunday believers who profess our faith in the safety of our churches and then sink into our “normal” lives in the workplace.

I believe God is calling us to be the “Salt of the Earth”.  That essential nutrient that brings life to a dying world.  That leader with compassion, humility, and passion that stands out in the typical cut-throat business environment.  That business unit that is run so effectively and with such integrity that others will take notice.  We are called to be salt in the world around us.

Leaders can have a tremendous impact in the lives of those around them.  Are we leading in such a way that we will be asked “to give the reason for the hope that is in us” or will we be yet another stumbling block to an unbelieving world?

be Salt inc. is a leadership challenge with the goal of equipping and challenging new and seasoned leaders in the workplace.  We believe true growth as a leader will only happen when leaders are consistently challenged to put into practice solid leadership principles.  Much like an athlete in training, it takes more than head knowledge to stretch and grow.  True growth comes from partnering with others that will challenge us daily to reach our full potential.
